About The Mephibosheth Project
Mephibosheth Project Inc, (MPI) began as an inner vision within the heart of our Founder and Executive Director, Rev. Marvin R. Alexander, (aka Pastor A.), in 2007. The original concept was to provide a service that would open the doors of faith and hope in the hearts of those that may have made some less than positive choices along their journey of life. The reality of not having a sound relationship with his biological father directly influenced how he viewed himself and the world around him. It was the positive impact that was placed upon his life by various mentors along the way that helped him to recognize and understand the importance of mentorship.
All of us, have at some point needed a helping hand, or someone to show us a little grace along the way. The same is the case for our justice involved population. In 2015, MPI became an official 501c3 organization, recognized by the Internal Revenue Service. Since receiving its official non-profit status, MPI, through its various community partnerships, has been successful in making a direct impact in the lives of post-released citizens returning back to Wayne County, NC. As we continue to move forward our goal is to not only address and reduce recidivism, but to also be catalyst of change, in the areas of local crime reduction, and the lowering of our present unemployment rate by helping to direct our returning citizens toward a path of positivity and productivity.
